This week, our Grade 1 students explored the concept of relationships in the context of animal interactions. One thoughtful idea that emerged from the class was that a relationship describes how living things interact with one another.
Students were introduced to different types of symbiotic relationships that influence survival, including predation, commensalism, mutualism, competition, and parasitism. To deepen their understanding, each student searched for an image that represented an assigned type of relationship and explained their thinking using their own words. This activity encouraged both creativity and critical thinking as they connected concepts to real-life examples.
