This week, Grade 1s worked on understanding time, space and history as we began exploring the second unit of inquiry under the transdisciplinary theme, Where we are in place and time.
Our central idea is CHILDREN IN THE PASR LIVED DIFFERENTLY FROM HOW WE LIVE TODAY. This big idea was cut into 3 smaller ideas: daily life then and now, school then and now and how lives have changed.
To begin with, we looked at their perspective of the PAST. On a black A4 paper, they drew what they think PAST is about. some of them think of PAST as something from a long long time ago. Some thing of past as ancient. Some associated past to a holiday experience they had in winter.
Then we unpacked the terms from the central idea so they can make sense of what we really are exploring.
